Four Tips for Healthcare Recruiters (2022 Edition)
A lot has changed over the past few years in healthcare recruitment. But one thing that still holds true today is, successful recruitment is about building strong relationships.
That said, let’s examine four tips for today’s recruiters in healthcare staffing:
- Be fast and responsive. Clinicians aren’t going to wait for information. They don’t have to. There are more firms out there now, than ever before. They can simply move on to the next one if you’re too slow to respond.
- Lean into technology and digital marketplaces. Old dogs need to learn new technology and adapt. You know what happened to the dinosaurs, right?! Don’t get left behind. And remember, you don’t have to like it for it to work. Texting and digital marketplaces are not going away. Think about how buying a service or product has changed for you. How would you find a job today (hypothetically, of course😊)?
- Continuous engagement. There is a lot more “noise” out there right now given the volume of firms in the space. Keep your candidates engaged throughout the recruitment process and recognize when there’s a change in how responsive they are to your calls or texts, etc. When you see a change in their behavior act on it.
- Close and re-close. The catchy phrase, “Always be closing” comes to mind. There are delays in the recruitment cycle which are out of your control. When a candidate is left waiting for an interview or the right job to open, they’ll move on. Continue to close them on positions they’re submitted for and add some new options for them to consider each time you connect. It is YOUR job to help them identify positions aligned with their wants or needs. And you sometimes need to get creative in finding the right solution.
The skills necessary to succeed in today’s market aren’t different from what they’ve always been. Technology is constantly changing, and recruiters have always had to adapt to changes in the market. Rest assured, the right attitude and work ethic coupled with an open-mind and willingness to adapt is all it takes to succeed as a healthcare recruiter in today’s market!
